Top Promotion – Nina’s Journey from CFO to CEO
Nina was an extremely competent and confident CFO of a European software company. When the CEO position became vacant, she decided that a Leadership Excellence programme was right for her, as it gave her focussed individual sessions with me, initially to map her competencies, experience and development needs – as well as an independent perspective of the pros and cons of pursuing the CEO role.
Mapping Competencies for Success
Together, we mapped her professional, business, and interpersonal competencies. Nina needed a stronger strategic mindset as well more in-depth knowledge about corporate governance and some technical business challenges. Based on the competency map, we devised an intensive and effective strategic mindset and business knowledge acquisition plan.

Preparing for the CEO Role
Simultaneously, she offered her candidacy to the CEO Recruitment Committee. Prior to her interviews and assessments, we rehearsed various angles and potential questions.
Nina was selected amongst several candidates and is now thriving in her new role as CEO. She has also accepted her first board position.
