The Influencer:
Often well-connected and respected, the influencer can sway opinions and decisions. They are usually found networking and building alliances. The Gatekeeper:
This person controls the flow of information and resources. They can either support or hinder progress depending on their stance. Identifying gatekeepers enables you to navigate internal processes more effectively.
The Strategist:
Known for their careful planning and manipulation, they often work behind the scenes to achieve their goals. Watch for their subtle moves and alliances. Understanding Strategists helps in foreseeing potential challenges and planning strategic responses.
The Ally:
Loyal and supportive, allies are valuable in navigating office politics. They often stand by you and offer support during challenging times. Building alliances with such individuals can significantly ease your journey through office dynamics.
The Saboteur:
This player aims to undermine or gaslight others for their gain. They can be identified by their tendency to spread rumours, create conflict, or obstruct progress. Being aware of saboteurs is crucial for protecting your own interests, your brand and maintaining a positive work environment.
Recognising who the players are and how they interact in office politics is vital for you, when you want to develop your own approach.
